It can be kind of awkward to do a 13 COVERS tribute to a writer. After all, it’s the artist who did the cover, right?
But there are people like Otto Binder who nonetheless deserve that kind of recognition. Binder, who was born Aug. 26, 1911, was one of the major architects of the Golden Age given his substantial contributions to the Marvel Family (and its costumed colleagues).
He not only wrote hundreds of Marvel Family stories, he co-created Mary Marvel, Black Adam, Mr. Mind, Mr. Tawky Tawny, Uncle Dudley and members of the Sivana family.
Binder died more than 40 years ago but his work endures — at least among the comics cognoscenti. Here are 13 COVERS of books featuring his stories and characters:
