13 COVERS: An ERNIE CHAN Birthday Celebration

The late artist was born 83 years ago on July 27, 1940…

It’s been a few years since we’ve done a straight-up Batman 13 COVERS birthday salute to the late Ernie Chan. We’ve done splash pages and some Justice League of America and others, but ol’ Batsy? Nope.

So this year, we go back to one of Chan’s signature characters with a gallery selected from the Caped Crusader’s eponymous title. Maybe next year we’ll do Detective Comics!

Right on!

  1. Happy Birthday to Mr Chan . My very first comic was Batman 270 ” The Menace of the Firey Heads ” with art by Ernie. It creeped me out when I was a kid but I loved it,
it has such a great cover and splash page. I wish I owned the original art for those.

  4. 273 and 275 were from the “Underworld Olympics of 1976” storyline. I really enjoyed that yarn!
