Action Comics #1 — the most important comic book of all time — was published April 18, 1938.
I think.
There seems to be some debate about the exact publication of the June 1938 cover-dated issue, but the Grand Comics Database, my go-to resource on such things, has it as April 18. But they took they, it seems, from Wikipedia, which, as you know, can be quite faulty.
Either way, it’s what I’m going with, so we’re going to celebrate the comic book that gave us Siegel and Shuster’s Superman with four sets of 13 COVERS: Golden Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age and Modern Age. Because if there’s a specific comic-book title that deserves this over-the-top treatment, it’s this one.
So, settle in here for 13 COVERS: The Golden Age. As is typically the case, this is not a definitive list per se. It’s really just 13 COVERS I really dig. So if you see one of your favorites missing, add it to the comments below or in whichever social-media thread you found this!
