13 COVERS: A MARV WOLFMAN Birthday Celebration

The co-creator of the greatest superhero team of all time is 70.

Marv Wolfman and George Perez thoroughly remade the Teen Titans in 1980, quickly turning them into DC’s hottest title. Their first 40-plus issues remain a classic run of team-superheroing that just happens to be my favorite ever.

Now, I’ve given Perez a couple tips of the pen the last couple years for his work on Titans and a Wolfman salute is long, long overdue. (More on that soon.)

Anyway, Wolfman, who was born May 13, 1946, is one of the great writing legends of the Bronze and Modern ages, with the ground-breaking Crisis on Infinite Earths (also with Perez) perhaps his greatest single achievement. But in my mind he will forever, first and foremost be the co-creator and writer of The New Teen Titans.

These 13 COVERS are, naturally, the work of Perez and I chose to feature ones that often get overlooked. But that shouldn’t stop you from contributing your own fave Wolfman-Perez Titans covers in the comments below or in whichever social-media thread you found this.
