One of comics’ all-time greats was born 98 years ago…

The late, great Joe Kubert was born 98 years ago, on Sept. 18, 1926.

Hawkman is one of the characters he’s best known for — but generally fans think of his Silver Age/Bronze Age version. Don’t forget: Kubert worked on the Winged Avenger back in the Golden Age too.

  1. Loved his work. Flash #85: Is that Julius Schwartz in the director’s chair? I think it is!

    • Very interesting! The issue was pub’d 1947 and Schwartz (1915 – 2004) arrived at DC / National (or whatever) in 1944, so now in his early 30s–and the resemblance is there. And as you’ve mentioned it, I think it may likely be Schwartz too! Thanks!
