We don’t generally do 13 COVERS galleries for writers because covers are inherently about the artist.
But when you’re talking about a titan like the late Jerry Siegel — born Oct. 17, 1914 — well, that’s another matter.
Now, you’d be forgiven for thinking we’d have 13 Superman covers to show off for you. (As we have in the past.) But no. This year, we’re spotlighting another of Siegel’s enduring contributions to comics — the Spectre, whose original artist was Bernard Baily.

Wow! Even with all of the books I’ve been reading for the last few years on the history of comics and their characters, I had no idea that Siegel was the creator of TWO of the most powerful beings in the DCU.
