13 COVERS: A DOCTOR OCTOPUS 60th Anniversary Tribute

Ditko! Romita! Kane! MORE!

By PETER BOSCH

Doctor Octopus (aka Dr. Otto Octavius) must certainly rank as Spider-Man’s second-most deadly enemy, following the Green Goblin. To celebrate Doc Ock’s 60th anniversary — he first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #3, by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, which went on sale April 9, 1963 — here are some of his best Silver and Bronze Age covers, plus a great Steve Ditko pin-up page… AND a video clip from Spider-Man 2, with a terrific retelling of the Doc’s transformation from man to madman.

The doctor is out… definitely way out!
