13 COVERS: A DAVE STEVENS Birthday Celebration

The artist would have been 63.

Dave Stevens was a modern-day master of adventure comics and good-girl art whose legacy is secured by his greatest creation, the Rocketeer.

Stevens was born July 29, 1955, and died far too young at the age of 52 in 2008.

He was not the most prolific artist but what he left behind certainly endures.

Here’s a 13 COVERS salute:

    • Yes, he took care of Betty. Helped her doing paperwork to obtain social security benefit, established a copyright for her name and likeness, etc. they became good friends while maintaining her privacy.
