13 COVERS: A BOB LAYTON Birthday Celebration

The comics stalwart turns 67…

Every once in a while, I come across a birthday and it hits me between the eyes that I’ve never done a 13 COVERS salute to that person. There’s usually no good reason for it and I always feel sheepish.

That’s the case here with Bob Layton — born Sept. 25, 1953 — a fan-fave and one of the stars of Marvel’s Bronze Age (and then some).

Layton has had an illustrious career (pardon the pun) but he’s without a doubt most associated with Iron Man, so dig these 13 COVERS from the artist’s original Shell-Head run.

Dig it.

  1. Happy birthday to Mr. Layton. These covers that he did are *truly* invincible.

  2. I can remember reading these all back in the day. I really enjoy his style. Classic Bronze Age.
