13 DAYS OF KIRBY 100: When 13 COVERS just won’t do…
—
Welcome to 13 DAYS OF KIRBY 100, our celebration of Jack Kirby’s centennial. For the complete 13 DAYS OF KIRBY 100 Index of stories and features, including essays by the likes of Mike Allred, Dave Gibbons, Marie Severin, Kelley Jones and many others, click here.

Normally, our birthday shtick is salute a creator with 13 COVERS on a particular subject.
This is not a normal birthday celebration.
No, for Jack Kirby’s centennial, we present 100 COVERS, covering Marvel, DC and many other publishers. Only one other creator’s gotten this treatment here at 13th Dimension: DC’s Julius Schwartz, on his centennial two years ago. (Click here.)
Now, I want to make it clear that this is not a definitive Top 100 list. These also aren’t ranked in any order (except the top one, which is my favorite). These are simply 100 of my favorites, so this is at heart a highly subjective list. I’m willing to wager you’ll have a favorite, or a cover of historical significance, that’s not included below. That’s cool. Feel free to add it in the comments below or in whichever social-media thread you found this.
What’s important is the art and the impact.
So, here we go with 100 COVERS to celebrate Jack Kirby, who would have been 100 on Aug. 28:

Love the 100. Have 67 of them. What memories those images bring back. “LONG LIVE THE KINGS MEMORY”.

Great selections, thank you. But I’m lost. Thor #114. FF #60. Tales of Suspense #96, and any Super Adaptoid covers. And perhaps the greatest of them all….HULK #1.Not because they’re old. But because they’re stunning, vivid and tell the story in one image. Did I miss some of these. Cheers

You also left off the cover of FF #64 with the Kree Sentry facing off the Fantastic Four. It was the 1st comic I bought with my own money & I read and reread it until it fell apart. Years later, I bought a replacement for $12.00 – used the difference between the 12 cent cover price & the going price to show my dad that comics were worth collecting. It is still one of my all-time favorite comic covers.
