Last year, the Spirit’s previous cartoonist — Darwyn Cooke — picked Eight Eisner Stories Every Fan Should Read for us here at 13th Dimension.
This year, we decided to spread the wealth and asked some of the industry’s foremost artists — including the likes of Francesco Francavilla and Matt Wagner – to pick their favorite Eisner splash pages.
Here’s artist SANDY JARRELL:
“I had narrowed it down to 20 or so splashes over the weekend, but settling on this one ended up being pretty easy. Almost everything I picked had loads of negative space — could be because their offering breathing space in the Archives gave ’em an unfair advantage. But besides that, they all ruled.
“This one in particular is poetry. An Eisner haiku. And my favorite Spirit splash.”
