Last year, the Spirit’s previous cartoonist — Darwyn Cooke — picked Eight Eisner Stories Every Fan Should Read for us here at 13th Dimension.

This year, we decided to spread the wealth and asked some of the industry’s foremost artists — including the likes of Doc Shaner and Matt Wagner – to pick their favorite Eisner splash pages.

“LOVE everything Eisner has done (when I draw a back alley, for example, Eisner is the first that comes to mind for inspiration: the shadows, the brick, the street lamp… you know, Eisner Alley. But art like this splash page from The Spirit really makes me wonder at the magnificence of a full horror GN by the Master. Can’t stop dreaming about it…”
