SUNDAY FUNNIES WITH KERRY CALLEN!
Wolverine — who was co-created by Len Wein and John Romita, with a healthy assist from Herb Trimpe — turns 50 this year, which is funny when you consider he doesn’t look a day over 130.
But what if he and his claws popped up about seven years earlier? Dig what it might have been like if Jack Kirby was the first to draw the Canadian berserker:
“Did you know that Jack Kirby was actually the first person to draw Wolverine, in an old ’60s Ka-Zar story?” sez Kerry. “Not really. Just kidding. I drew this basing it on a Black Panther panel from Fantastic Four Annual #5. Just thought it might look cool.”
You’re right, Kerry.

Looks great! Imagine if Kirby did a Wolverine series in the 70s. Would have been crazy fun.

Where is the original panel?

Ask and ye shall receive. Added it. Thanks!

For all we really know, that really was Wolverine as drawn by Kirby. Logan was alive and around then (if not there is always time travel) and the “Black Panther” as drawn by Kirby could have really been Logan in disguise. I am sure if we look very carefully at Marvel 1 or Captain America 1, Logan is in there somewhere drawn by Kirby 😉
