The State of the TREASURY EDITION Format

TreasuryCast is back! At least for now…

The last year and a half has been a great time for fans of the treasury format — at least if you’re into DC. The publisher has released a load of treasury Facsimile Editions, re-released a classic Bronze Age story in treasury format, and produced the first all-new treasury in decades.

Here’s hoping Marvel joins the party.

And it is a party: Rob Kelly, the Treasury Maven of Mavens, has revived his beloved TreasuryCast podcast for at least one episode to review July 2025’s Superman Treasury 2025: Hero for All.

But that’s not all! Episode #101 is treasury-size itself, clocking in at just over two hours — and the second half is a deep-dive discussion (with yours truly) about the state of the format, how it re-emerged and where it’s headed. We also discuss its various descendants, like DC’s new 11″ x 17″ Giant-Size comics and W.I.P. line. And, of course, whether Marvel is likely to follow suit.

So click here to listen or find it wherever you get your aural pleasures.

  1. But will DC ever reprint a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Treasury?

But seriously, the facsimile line of treasuries has led me to DC’s Wikipedia page for the format (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limited_Collectors%27_Edition) and it’s been educational on how many potential facsimile books might still come in the future. Excluding the two Rudolphs and the Superman: The Movie book, DC still owes us an ANCE facsimile of Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes (C-55) to wrap up the ANCE line.

And, of course, this would be the right time to preprint C-27: Batman vs. the Incredible Hulk. Fingers crossed we get that in the future.

  3. I managed to find the Superman treasury from a UK supplier called Comiccoin. co . uk after my local comic book shop couldn’t get hold of anymore copies . I must say that the art is fantastic, with ink lines that take advantage of a good paper stock. The colouring too make it visually impressive issue. I hope DC do more and I hope I get in an order on time.
