Happy holidays, heroes!
Just wanted to share a quick holiday memory with you:
When I was just around 6 or 7 years old my brother Sam and I received a Batman and Robin walkie-talkie set as Christmas gifts from our folks.
Being the younger brother, I naturally went right for the Robin walkie-talkie and my big bro went for the Batman one. It was never something we discussed, but after reading all of the comics and watching the West and Ward show we just knew whose was whose.
They had long, telescoping antennas, were pretty bulky and not easy to hold, but we spent many hours running all over the house and neighborhood with them communicating as we knew Batman and Robin would!
The Robin walkie-talkie, thrashed as it is, now has a special place on a book shelf in my home art studio.
The absolute best part about these hero walkie-talkies was having such a great brother on the other end of the line. Sharing and playing together all of those times was truly the best gift my folks could have given us. Batman is truly lost without Robin, and vice versa!
As your tearing through wrapping paper this holiday season I hope you will remember it’s not about what items you give or get, but about the time you share with your loved ones. Cherish it always!
For good measure here’s an early pic of Sam and me getting ready to fight some crime!
Merry Christmas and good will toward each other,
