SPIDER-MAN ’67 and FILMATION SUPERMAN: Ron Frenz Made It Happen

At least in this groovy illo…

Last week, we brought you the story about how writer Dan Slott pitched Marvel on a Spider-Man ’67 meets Filmation Superman story for April’s Spider-Man/Superman #1 crossover.  (He also wanted to do Nicholas Hammond Spidey meets Christopher Reeve Supes.)

Alas, Slott was shot down — thanks to those pesky rights approvals — but former longtime Spider-Man artist Ron Frenz picked up the slack when he posted this in the comments of our Facebook post of the story:

I love how Ron parroted the back cover of 1976’s Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man treasury, which was released this month as a Facsimile Edition:
