SHOCKING! Dig These 13 Electrifying ELECTRO COVERS

TOYHEM! Because his Mego figure is coming!

Welcome to TOYHEM! For the sixth straight holiday season, we’re bringing you a series of features and columns celebrating the toys of our youth, which often made for the best memories this time of year. Click here to check out the complete index of stories — and have a Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah and Happy Holidays! — Dan

I dig Electro. Always have. Dig the silly mask. Dig the silly Silver Age trick of naming a villain by adding “O” to the end of a word — Bizarro, Eclipso, etc., etc. In fact, as a kid, I had an invisible villain named Inviso who would battle my Megos. It was an easy way to stretch the rogues gallery.

And Megos are why we’re here! The modern version of the beloved toy company this week announced that its Marvel figures are almost here, and the first four-pack will include Electro, who has never had a Mego figure before. (He’ll be packed with replicas of Spider-Man, the Green Goblin and the Lizard. They’ll be available online at the Disney Store soon.) You can read more about all that jazz over here, but Electro’s addition to the Mego family made me want to celebrate the OG, Max Dillon, with 13 COVERS. (Or mostly covers.)

Can’t you just hear him jeering “SPIIIDer-Mann!” like on the 1967 cartoon? I can.

  1. Kind of bummed Erik Larsen didn’t get the nod. I really liked his rendition of Electro for both Sinister Six arcs!

    • No offense meant. Just stuck with the Bronze and Silver Ages, with the exception of Ross.

      • I was always partial to Spectacular Spider-Man 66 by Hannigan. Such a well designed cover.

  2. The cover of Marvel Tales 63 was interesting because up to that point, they had just been reprinting the original covers from the Amazing Spider-Man series. Then, for reasons unknown to me at least, they published an original cover.
