Introducing… SCOTT SHAW! SATURDAYS Presents ODDBALL COMICS

Another new weekly feature here at 13th Dimension…

The hits just keep on coming! First, there was SUNDAY FUNNIES WITH KERRY CALLEN. Then there was MORRISON MONDAYS. Then there was DESPOP TUESDAYS. Then there was FRANCO’S FREE-FOR-ALL FRIDAYS.

Now, welcome 13th Dimension’s latest weekly columnist — Scott Shaw! with SCOTT SHAW! SATURDAYS Presents ODDBALL COMICS, the newest iteration of his popular humor-mixed-with-history feature, which dates back to the ’70s.

Scott, as I’m sure you know, co-created the beloved Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew!; has a lengthy history in comics and animation; is the winner of four Emmy Awards and an Eisner; and was among the founders of, oh, San Diego Comic-Con.

As the name and that nifty banner above say, Scott will be here every Saturday until he runs out of Oddball Comics to write about (which will be never).

Click here for his first installment — all about 1978’s Marvel Team-Up #78, featuring Spider-Man’s pairing with the cast of Saturday Night Live!

Right on.

  1. Just from the Big Boy homage, I had a strong feeling that this was going to be an enjoyable manner in which to learn some hidden history or stories behind some unusual comics. I look forward to reading +/- 13 things about comics for which I will then may need to go hunting to read or even re-read. That is one of the many things I love about the 13th Dimension, re-reading comics with new insights, a better understanding, or a different context. It adds significant value, joy, and appreciation for my collection.
