HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide 54th Edition, Gemstone. Because it’s part of the fabric of comics.

ZOWIE! The TV Superhero Craze in ’60s Pop Culture, TwoMorrows. Fabulous book. We’re serializing Zowie! every Wednesday, so click here for the index of excerpts. Some comics shops will be getting it in this week. You can also order it directly from TwoMorrows.

Back Issue #153 and Comic Book Creator #35, TwoMorrows. Same. Some shops will have them this week. Otherwise, order directly from TwoMorrows.

Captain America & 1972 Plymouth GTX, Jada Toys. As far as I know, Steve Rogers never had this ride in the ’70s, but damn, he should have. Lists for $9.99 and is 1/32 scale!

The Flash #11 and Green Arrow #14 Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez DC Style Guide Variants, DC. The final two — Flash and GA! Don’t forget — the 1982 DC Style Guide is coming in August!

Batman: Dark Age #4, DC. Man, dig this Chris Samnee variant cover. Can’t wait for Batman and Robin: Year One.

Scott Tipton, columnist, 13th Dimension

Flash Gordon #1, Mad Cave. Looking forward to The Flash and Green Lantern writer Jeremy Adams’ take on this pulp sci-fi classic.

Savage Avengers by Gerry Duggan, Marvel. Just the notion of Conan the Barbarian being on a superhero team with Wolverine and the Punisher is nutty enough to make me want to check this trade out.

Marvel Masterworks: The Defenders Vol. 9, Marvel. This is prime-era Defenders! The Six-Fingered Hand Saga, intro of the Gargoyle, courtesy of DeMatteis and Perlin.

  1. My copy of Comic Book Creator came last week. Looking forward to reading that but I passed on BackIssue. I don’t do babies anything….muppet babies let alone X-Men babies. And I just might have to pickup the new Flash Gordon.
