HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

From the DC Vault — Death in the Family: Robin Lives #1, DC. This is the kind of Batman project that hits my sweet spot. I voted for Jason to live, so I’m really into this What If? scenario, especially with the pitch-perfect team of J.M. DeMatteis and Rick Leonardi. Now, not for a second do I believe this will be a Happily Ever After tale — and I hope it doesn’t go too dark — but I’m really into the possibilities.

I will also be picking up the Mignola variant:

Scott adds: You know, back in my day, they’d call this an “Elseworlds.” Dan adds: Good point, Scott — especially since DC has brought Elseworlds back!

Tales of the Teen Titans #44 Facsimile Edition, DC. The 1984 birth of Nightwing! And (if you care, I don’t) Jericho! With foil and sketch variants; I’m getting both.

Gatchaman: Galactor #1, Mad Cave. Like the main series and the Ken one-shot, I’m buying this on spec. My son and I have about 20 Gatchaman episodes (and the movie) to go and I’m waiting to read this until after we’re done. Getting closer!

Marvel Classic Black Light 2025 Poster Calendar, Abrams ComicArts. Twelve 11″ x 17″ reproductions of the classic Third Eye posters in calendar format. A must-buy.

Action Comics #1067, DC. A standalone arc that takes place in Superman’s early days, by Gail Simone, Eddy Barrows, et al. You had me at Fleischer Superman’s logo.

X-Men #1, Marvel. A public-service announcement that a new X-Men era is kicking off. By Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman.

X-Men ’97 #2, Third Printing, Marvel. I just dig the cover. I’m not an X-guy but I do know people love this animated series.

Green Lantern #13 Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez DC Style Guide Variant, DC. The next in line.

Scott Tipton, columnist, 13th Dimension

Batman and Robin Adventures Omnibus, DC. Great animated-style Batman tales from Ty Templeton, Paul Dini and Rick Burchett.

The Amazing Spider-Man Epic Collection, Vol. 21: Return of the Sinister Six, Marvel. I remember liking the Michelinie/Larsen years on Spidey, so this warrants a re-read.

  1. That is a poorly done Fleischer insignia. Also, are they following SUPERMAN & LOIS continuity now? Superman never wore the Fleischer costume in the comics.
