HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Scott Tipton, columnist, 13th Dimension

Mad Magazine #1 Facsimile Edition, DC Comics. Not only a valuable historical artifact, but still funny!

Dan adds: An inspired choice for a Facsimile Edition, and I’m really looking forward to it. But I wish Mad still existed with all-new material.

Aliens What If #4, Marvel. If Burke doesn’t die in an even more cowardly way this time, I’ll be sorely disappointed.

Amazing Spider-Man #51, Marvel. I admittedly haven’t been following ASM lately, but it does my heart good to see that all of the original Sinister Six are back nowadays.

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Secret Wars #6, Marvel. Low expectations mean I’m still enjoying the hell out of this. And go check out Fred Van Lente’s latest COMIC BOOK DEATH MATCH pitting this ish against Crisis on Infinite Earths #6. It’s hilarious. As usual.

My Adventures of Superman #1, DC. I keep hearing great things about this show. Do you like it?

World of Betty and Veronica Jumbo Comics Digest #33, Archie. Beach reading = Archie Comics.

Tin Titans Ultraman Lunch Box, Surreal Entertainment. An Ultraman lunch box! (A Previews exclusive, which means you can only get it through Diamond.)

  1. RE: My Adventures of Superman.

Haven’t caught up yet with the few season two episodes I’ve recorded via Adult Swim, but I enjoyed the hell out of the first season. Fantastic stories and delightful animation. Very much worth the watch.

  2. My Adventures of Superman is a great show. There’s still a lot of action and drama, but it’s light and fun, and Superman is the optomisitic force for good you want him to be. It takes elements from just about every iteration and comes at the DCU from a fresh perspective. Highly recommended from me!!!

  3. Not exactly the traditional Superman I would like, but still found it enjoyable. Interesting blend of standard animation and anime. Fun and worth watching.
