HOT PICKS! On Sale This Week!

Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Dan Greenfield, editor, 13th Dimension

Superman: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 1, DC. Long-awaited, then delayed, it’s finally here. For some, this is Superman’s greatest era and this 680-pager features a Super-smorgasbord of Silver Age classics by the likes of Jerry Siegel, Otto Binder, Bill Finger, Jack Schiff, Wayne Boring, Curt Swan, Al Plastino and more. Collects Action Comics #241-265 and Superman #122-137, which came out in 1958-60. Lists for $100.

Teen Titans: Year One, DC. A new edition of the trade paperback collecting the charming and fun miniseries from 2008. Makes for a wonderful companion to Mark Waid and Emanuela Lupacchino’s World’s Finest: Teen Titans. By Amy Wolfram, Karl Kerschl and Serge LaPointe.

Wesley Dodds, the Sandman #6, DC. Did I miss something by passing this one up? Looks cool. Tell me, folks…

Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars #3 Facsimile Edition, Marvel. The latest installment of the monthly reprint. Fighting! In-fighting! Alliances forged! Evil afoot! You know the drill…

Scott Tipton, columnist, 13th Dimension

Black Widow and Hawkeye #1, Marvel. Not sure how I feel about Natasha having a Venom symbiote these days. I do like that Hawkeye is almost back to his classic costume, though. Put that mask on, Clint!

Dan adds: Dig the Artgerm variant!

Marvel-Verse: Wonder Man, Marvel. I don’t know if we’ll ever see that Wonder Man TV show that was promised a while back, but you can find out all about Simon Williams here.

Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance #1, Marvel. This is billed as some back-to-basics Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider. None of this car-driving balderdash. I’m intrigued.

  1. Gotta admit I miss safari jacket-wearing Wonder Man. Ghost Rider looks cool as well.

  2. I am enjoying Sandman. Interesting to explore the characters guilt and resolve.
Highly recommend the Alan Scott series also.

  3. Am I correct that this Superman Silver Age book is reprinting a ton of stuff that has NEVER been collected period? That is just mind blowing to me how large of chunks of such high profile work still remains to reprint.

  5. I’ve been waiting on the Silver Age Superman Omnibus forever. Amazon has it currently listed at $67. That’s the lowest I’ve seen it listed since it was first announced. While I think it may still show up somewhere closer to the sweet spot of $50, I’ve pulled the trigger. The SA is so much fun.
