Detective Comics #411 Facsimile Edition, DC. Presenting Talia’s first appearance! People tend to think Neal Adams drew Talia first but it was Bob Brown, inked by Dick Giordano, in this issue written by Denny O’Neil. (Though Adams did do the cover.) About three weeks later, in April 1971, Batman #232 came out, giving us Adams’ more famous version. Anyway, this is a groovy addition to the Facsimile Edition line and it presages the full-size Limited Collectors’ Edition #C-51 Facsimile Edition — which includes #232, plus Batman #242, #243 and #244 — that’s due later this month. Meanwhile, I’m in for the foil edition here — and am especially into the sketch cover since I really love that Detective logo. This is in my Bat-wheelhouse, man.

The Bat-Man: First Knight #1, DC. Dan Jurgens and Mike Perkins take you back to 1939 and the Bat-Man’s earliest days, when his only ally was Commissioner Gordon — just as it was in Detective Comics #27. A three-part, Black Label prestige series that I am in for.
—
The Amazing Spider-Man Epic Collection: The Secret of the Petrified Tablet, Marvel. New printing. Excellent collection of late ’60s Spidey, mostly by Lee and Romita, with John Buscema and Jim Mooney in the mix. Must-read.
—
Betty and Veronica Jumbo Comics Digest #322, Archie. Includes the most romantic Betty and Archie story I’ve ever read, a sweet 1974 tale by Frank Doyle and Dan DeCarlo. (Click here to check it out.)

Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #3, DC. Bat-Climb Alert!

Shazam! #9, DC. Have Captain Marvel and Creeper met since that time in Justice League in 1987? I don’t think so.
—
What If… Aliens #1, Marvel. “What if Carter Burke Had Lived?” OK, guys, you got me, I’m in. “It was a bad call, Ripley. A bad call.”
—
The Avengers #11, Marvel. Absolutely yes. Avengers comics need more Jarvis.
—
Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace #1, Marvel. Iman Vellani is just so delightful on screen as Kamala Khan, and loves the Marvel Universe so much, I gotta support any comics she’s involved in.
—
Spectacular Spider-Men #1, Marvel. The notion of a monthly Peter Parker/Miles Morales series normally might not appeal to me much, but I just started playing the Spider-Man 2 game for PS5, which executes that dynamic so well that now I’m kinda hyped for this.

Scoring me those two Batman books at the top of the article. ANd the Treasury edition later, of course.

Agree. 100%. Will be first newly printed story I’ve bought in some time.
