Scott and Dan pick the comics they’re most looking forward to…

Beware the Planet of the Apes #1, Marvel. OK, I admit that I’m equal parts intrigued and wary. Marvel finally returns to the world of the original saga with a prequel that focuses on Nova and utilizes some of the material from the publisher’s 1970s comics series. It may work. It may be a disaster. But I love Planet of the Apes so much, I figure I’ll try it out.

The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #1, DC. The series is back for a third go-around, and in this issue Nightwing takes center stage!

Scott Tipton, contributor-at-large, 13th Dimension
Kneel Before Zod #1, DC. I’ve always thought that if someone would write General Zod in the comics the way he was presented in the Donner films, it would be a slam dunk. Joe Casey might be just the guy to do it.

Marvel Legends Spider-Man 2 Doc Ock 6-Inch Deluxe Action Figure, Hasbro. Man, I’ve been waiting for this figure ever since No Way Home hit theaters. Any time a Doc Ock figure can stand up on the tentacles, I’m sold.

Shazam! #7, DC Comics. Finally, Black Adam is where he should be: beating the tar out of the Big Red Cheese.

I want them NOW! No patience.

I’d love the Doc Ock if he was in his classic comic book threads. The movie version and its muted palette just doesn’t pop. But I like the design and concept for sure.
