It’s a special Halloween ComicFest edition!
These are the free books I’d seek out at your local comics shop 10/31 — which just happens to be the Halloween version of Free Comic Book Day. Companies publish special HCF editions — some that are reprints and some with new material. There are about a dozen or so but these are the ones I dig the most. For more info (and to find a participating store in your area), go to the Halloween ComicFest site.

Batman Adventures, DC Comics. Of course I’m going to start with Batman. This reprints the classic comics based on Batman: The Animated Series. Great all-ages fare.
Fragments of Horror, VizMedia. It seems like everyone I know digs Junji Ito. I gotta tell you, a quick spin through this comic and I can see what they’re screaming about. Screaming, get it? See what I did there?
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Archie. This reprints the first issue of a book that doesn’t come out nearly enough. This is a really creepy comic and I’m especially a fan of Robert Hack’s art.
Actionverse, Action Lab. The little company that could mixes together some of its best-known titles, including Jamal Igle’s Molly Danger and Vito Delsante’s Stray.
