While Steve Englehart‘s run on the title was my favorite overall, I’d have to pick Avengers #4 as my single favorite issue. Lee and Kirby revive Captain America AND give us the asparagus people — what’s not to love? And even if Bucky ultimately didn’t stay dead, well, it was a pretty emotional revelation way back in ’64.
