MORRISON MONDAYS!
By BILL MORRISON
One of the best things about being a kid in the 1960s and early ’70s was that there was a comic book titled The Adventures of Jerry Lewis! Jerry was my favorite comedian at the time (OK, I admit it! He still is!) And being a DC Comics kid, it was a real kick when my favorite superheroes guest-starred in a handful of Jerry Lewis issues.
The first was Batman and Robin in Issue #97…

Bob Oksner
… followed by Superman in #105…

Oksner (Superman is a stat by Wayne Boring and Stan Kaye, taken from Action Comics #210)
… the Flash in #112…

Oksner pencils. Inker possibly Oksner.
… and Wonder Woman in #117:

Oksner
(For more on these stellar crossover issues, see Paul Kupperberg’s excellent article, “MY 13 FAVORITE JERRY LEWIS COMIC BOOK APPEARANCES!) Sadly, the long-running humor book was cancelled with Issue #124 and we never got to see Jerry team up with other DC heroes.
But what if the title had kept going?
With that intriguing question in mind, here is my birthday salute to Jerry Lewis (a day late)!

She look familiar? She should!
Next year for his birthday I’ll draw the Jerry Meets Wonder Woman cover we really wanted to see! Or maybe I’ll pair him with the Atom. Or possibly Hawkman… heck, why not the entire Justice League? After all, they have the same initials!

Eisner winner BILL MORRISON has been working in comics and publishing since 1993 when he co-founded Bongo Entertainment with Matt Groening, Cindy Vance and Steve Vance. At Bongo, and later as Executive Editor of Mad Magazine, he parodied the comics images he loved as a kid every chance he got. Not much has changed.
Bill is on Instagram (@atomicbattery) and Facebook (Bill Morrison/Atomic Battery Studios), and regularly takes commissions and sells published art through 4C Comics.

Shirley MacLaine was truly great in that. Hard to believe she was only 18 at the time. That dance routine with Jerry Lewis on the stairs is arguably the best thing either of them ever did.

LOL! All that’s missing from that cover is the goateed Green Arrow lurking in the background saying “I’m glad this story isn’t Relevant..” Thanks, Bill!
