GO-GO! TwoMorrows Releases DC Cover For ALTER EGO’s 25th Anniversary Issue

You saw Marvel’s. Here’s the Distinguished Competition’s…

In October, we brought you the details of Roy Thomas’ upcoming “King-Size” Alter Ego #188, which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the mag’s second incarnation.

The issue has a flip cover, with one side saluting Marvel and the other DC. We showed you the Marvel one — click here to check it out — but now publisher TwoMorrows has released the DC side.

Dig this:

A few thoughts:

— Yep, that is an adaptation of Carmine Infantino and Murphy Anderson’s cover for 1967’s Justice League of America #56. (Is it just me or shouldn’t the JLA wipe the floor with the JSA in this scenario?)

— Here’s the description in case you’ve forgotten:

Alter Ego #188 is a special double-size (160-page) issue with twin (flip) covers—one for Marvel, one for DC—celebrating 25 years of Alter Ego at TwoMorrows! The Marvel side includes David Armstrong’s Comic-Con mini-interviews with John Buscema, Marie Severin, Jim Mooney, and George Tuska—plus “Stan Lee’s Dinner with Alain Resnais,” as annotated by Sean Howe! On the DC side: Armstrong’s short talks with Carmine Infantino, John Broome, Julius Schwartz, Joe Kubert, & Murphy Anderson—plus a special photo-feature on Gardner Fox, featuring his extended family! All this, plus FCA, Mr. Monster’s Comic Crypt, and more! Edited by Roy Thomas.

(NOTE: This counts as TWO ISSUES toward your subscription!)

Alter Ego #188 is due out June 19, 2024, though that is subject to change. Nevertheless, you can already pre-order it from the publisher. Click here.
