FOUND! SUPERMAN’s Lost, EXCLUSIVE First Interview With LOIS LANE

The first installment of our new feature — DESPOP TUESDAYS, by artist DES TAYLOR…

Hey, welcome to the first edition of our latest and greatest weekly feature — DESPOP TUESDAYS — featuring the stellar art of British illustrator Des Taylor!

That’s column spokeswoman Alice Gilmore above. She’s a reporter who’s gone undercover at the Cat’s Kitten Club, which happens to be where the fabulous Marvel Age New Year’s Eve party was held. (Shhh. Don’t tell anyone — or better yet, tell EVERYONE — that Alice also is the masked crimefighter the Blue Lotus and she stars in Des’ next book The Blue Lotus Strikes.)

More on Alice soon enough, but we want to get right to Des’ premiere DESPOP TUESDAYS feature — Superman’s first interview with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Lois Lane, from the prestigious magazine Savoir, the Magazine for Sophisticats. (Alice Gilmore’s assignment is for Savoir, at it happens.)

Joe Costello actually wrote the piece and this gives you a fab taste of what you can expect from DESPOP TUESDAYS.

In fact, next week, we’ve got a tale to astonish you — a you-are-there newspaper report on a New York throwdown between Iron Man and Namor, the Sub-Mariner. And coming soon, there’s another interview from Savoir, putting Sue Storm in the spotlight; she’ll tell you all about what it’s like inside superherodom’s First Family:

  1. That a piece of fan fiction can get so much right by “just” trying to your best self. Whether that’s a writer, a commentator, or intelligent speculation and discourse.
It’s not a new form of dramatic discourse and discussion. Thomas Moore and probably hundreds of less known or knowledgeable people wrote dialogues and made their points. Not all were skilled, but all put their honest best foot forward.
And so did this essayist, sugar coating the discussion which should disturb readers. Because the lesson of this discussion was On Accountability, and that’s hardly a viable subject for a superhero in a land where we like to demean and discredit those who do their best.
This author offered his best. Let’s appreciate that maybe we can be better, to succot those in need, and to realize that we do have a future. A good one, if we work hard.

  2. What a fun first installment. I’m not sure if I want to read more of this world’s 1939 or, the stories of Superman in this much darker modern time. Either way there are some good stories here to tell it seems. My morning cuppa has never tasted so good! I think I might start saving future Tuesday post for my Saturday mornings. Wanna make sure I thoroughly enjoy them.
