On Saturday, we brought you news that Diamond Select is going back to the Batcave — or, I suppose Wayne Manor — with three new resin minibusts due later this year: Adam West’s Bruce Wayne, Burt Ward’s Dick Grayson and Alan Napier’s Alfred.
Now, we can give you your FIRST LOOK at the busts — straight from the Toy Fair floor in New York City:
As you see, Diamond got particularly inventive with Bruce and Dick, giving them minibusts of their own — a Batphone for the former and a Shakespeare bust for the latter. Alfred, meanwhile, has his trusty feather-duster.
The busts are still pending licensor approval but once that’s secured Diamond plans on getting solicitations going, likely one at a time. These usually retail for about $60.
While I’m tickled to see these three, I’m sure a lot of folks will wonder whether we’ll get any more, since there are still likenesses available in the license: Diamond hasn’t done Cliff Robertson’s Shame or Stafford Repp’s Chief O’Hara, though neither are essential. And now that we’re getting Bruce and Dick, it’d be a blast to get Barbara Gordon too. (There are also a bunch of variant possibilities, of course.)
Bottom line, it all comes down to sales and expectations, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Meanwhile (as Desmond Doomsday might say), a Batgirl bank bust is still coming, though it was not on display. (There’s no other news on the bank front or the statue front.)
Anyway, these minibusts were a cool surprise. Nice to see there’s some gas left in the merchandising Batmobile.

I was hoping they would do more 12″ statues of other villains.

These look great!

Yeah, I think it was really smart to give Bruce and Dick accessories like that too. It really adds a lot.

Do they have the rights to Lee Meriwether? I would love a Miss Kitka bust to go with the other two Catwoman busts.
I have all of the busts but I’m not sure that I have any interest in these. Maybe Alfred.

No, Lee Meriwether’s not in the license, I’m afraid. The license doesn’t cover the movie, sadly.

Love these Busts, cannot wait to add these to my Collection!
I would love to add Commissioner Gordon and Chief O’Hara Too…
