Several thoughts:

— I figured we’d get The Brave and the Bold #57 for three simple reasons: A) Metamorpho’s in James Gunn’s Superman; 2) He’s got a (terrific) new series out; and C) there’s a DC Finest: Metamorpho volume coming in June. So, all signs were pointing to this one and I’m really excited for it. I have a small Silver Age Metamorpho collection but would never pay for an original B&B #57. A Facsimile, though? Oh boy!

— Enemy Ace! (And Sgt. Rock!) This one’s the surprise of the month. It’s also the second straight year DC has published a war comic Facsimile Edition in time for Memorial Day. Last year, there were two: Rock’s first appearance in Our Army at War #81 and Military Comics #1, the debut of Blackhawk. I hope this becomes an annual tradition because it’s great to get different parts of DC’s history represented in the FE line.

— Obligatory Price Comparison #1: An unslabbed, midgrade original 1964 Brave and the Bold #57 recently sold on eBay for $300.

— Obligatory Price Comparison #2: An unslabbed, F/VF original 1964 Our Army at War #151 recently went for about $130.

  1. Agreed. I have about 5-6 issues of the original Metamorpho series that I grabbed for 5 bucks each. The B & B is cost prohibitive. If DC could reprint those 2 BB and #1 of the series, I’d be a happy man

  2. Loving all the pre-1990 Facsimile Editions, hoping DC keeps them up.

The two books I’d REALLY like to see as Facsimiles are Green Lantern 40, which contains the event that later sparks Crisis On Infinite Earths, and The Spectre 54, with the first appearance of the modern Mr. Terrific.
