DES TAYLOR Draws the Sexiest TALIA Since NEAL ADAMS

The 11th in the artist’s new series of faux “Super Soda” ads, starring the most powerful women in the DC universe…

Here’s the 11th of artist Des Taylor’s new faux ads for “Super Soda” — that popular imaginary beverage — starring DC’s A-List women.

Now, we wouldn’t be so blatant if we weren’t giving the dudes equal time, but I gotta tell you — and I do not make this pronouncement at all lightly — Des Taylor draws the sexiest Talia since Neal Adams.

Heavy praise I know, but I stand by it. Ever since 1971’s Batman #232, any time I’ve seen Talia pop up, I’ve said to myself, “Nope, not as sexy as Adams’ version.” In fact the only “version” who comes close is actress Caroline Munro, whom I’ve said over and over is the Greatest Talia Who Never Was.

Hell, Des, as you’ll see, even gave his version a Munrovian outfit:

Seriously, dig this:

Yep. On the money.

Anyway, we’re running one of these ads a day for 12 days, with a special 13th installment on New Year’s Eve.

We’ve had, in order: Black Canary, Power Girl, Mary Marvel, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Supergirl, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, Starfire and Zatanna.

Des isn’t selling these as prints right now, but he’s selling a ton of other stuff at his Despop Art website. Definitely check it out.

By the way, in the New Year, Des plans on doing a similar Super Soda ad campaign starring the women of Marvel. He also has a series of Fantastic Four prints up for sale through Brooklyn’s Bottleneck Gallery right now. If you want ’em, better act fast, because they’re already selling out!

  1. Y’know it never occurred to me to think of Caroline Munro as Talia (to me she’s forever Naomi in The Spy Who Loved Me), but–damn!–the resemblance sure is striking.

Esp. with that Neal Adams’ side-by-side.

    Wow.

    An eye-opener, Dan. Thanks!
