DC Has FOUR Facsimile Editions in June — Including a Rare ADAM HUGHES SUPERGIRL Cover

EXCLUSIVE! Plus, Lobo #1 gets a date! (Like, on the calendar)…

DC Comics will release four Facsimile Editions in June, along with two new Super Powers variants.

You can read about one of them here, and you can check out the Super Powers covers here.

Otherwise, among the big news is that the previously mentioned 2006 Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #23 will be re-released not with its regular cover but with its very-hard-to-find Adam Hughes variant.

Dig the solicitation info — along with that for the already announced 1990 Lobo #1 and 2003 Avengers/JLA #2 — to be officially revealed later Friday by DC:

Buncha thoughts:

— In February, when we reported that Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes #23 would be released as a Facsimile, there was some speculation that it would be the Hughes cover, and not the regular one by Barry Kitson (above). The issue itself doesn’t seem to otherwise warrant such a release.

— Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this is the first time a variant cover has been released as a Facsimile Edition.

Obligatory Price Comparison #1: Good luck finding an original Supergirl and the Legion issue with the Hughes cover. A NM copy recently sold on eBay for an indeterminate amount. The asking price was about $480 but the seller took a lower offer. Couldn’t have been much lower, though. You are much more likely to find a foreign edition for sale. (A copy with the regular cover would run you just a few bucks.)

Obligatory Price Comparison #2: An unslabbed, NM original Lobo #1 recently went for $75.

Obligatory Price Comparison #3: An unslabbed, NM original Avengers/JLA #1 recently sold for $25 but you can also find issues for less.
