CLASSIC COVERS RE-IMAGINED: TIGRA’s Down — and She Has the SUPER-SKRULL Right Where She Wants Him

SUNDAY FUNNIES WITH KERRY CALLEN!

By KERRY CALLEN

In the years 2009 to 2012, there existed an active website called Covered: Artists Re-Interpreting Comic Covers. It contained a lot of fantastic work by a wide variety of artists. It also contained some of my work.

At the time, I had gotten out of the habit of drawing and decided to start again. I contributed eight reimagined covers. In many ways, it’s where I developed my own current “superhero art” style. I thought it would be fun to share them here at 13th Dimension!

Today I share the last of the Covered Covers I created. It’s Marvel Chillers # 7, with a fun Jack Kirby cover (inked by Dan Adkins):

I’ve stated before I like comic covers where the good guy is winning. And, most of the time, do you really need more than just the hero and the villain?

I may have made it subtle, but Tigra’s getting ready to use her razor sharp claws and do something rather nasty to the Super-Skrull. Can he shape-shift in time?!?
