CHERYL BLOSSOM’s Archie Comics Debut to Get FACSIMILE EDITION

EXCLUSIVE: Betty and Veronica #320 will be reprinted in April…

After a few months off, Archie Comics is back in the Facsimile Edition game. We did extensive reporting on the crowdfunded Authentic Editions program, which, in partnership with Macroverse, will include high-end reprints of dozens of the publisher’s most essential Golden and Silver Age issues.

But that’s actually separate from Archie’s mainstream Facsimiles, which launched in the fall. Those issues, produced by the company itself, kicked off with 1968’s Betty and Me #16 and have included a couple more favorites.

Next one up? 1982’s Archie’s Girls, Betty and Veronica #320, which introduced Cheryl Blossom to the world.

Dig the official solicitation, which will be formally released by Archie later this week:

BETTY & VERONICA #320: FACSIMILE EDITION

FIRST APPEARANCE OF THE ICONIC CHERYL BLOSSOM! It’s the moment that shook Riverdale to its core and changed everything—that’s right, it’s the first appearance of the mischievous Cheryl Blossom! Don’t miss this historic moment in BETTY & VERONICA #320, faithfully reprinted in a full-facsimile edition!

Script: Frank Doyle
Art: Dan DeCarlo, Dan DeCarlo Jr., Barry Grossman, Bill Yoshida
Cover: Dan DeCarlo
On Sale Date: 4/30
32-page, full color comic
$3.99 U.S.

A few thoughts:

— As you may recall, Cheryl’s first appearance set tongues wagging when she tried to remove her top at Riverdale’s beach. It’s since become one of the publisher’s most famous (infamous?) scenes. She was created by the late, great Dan DeCarlo.

— We also have Archie’s full vintage style solicitations for April. Click here to check them out.

Obligatory Price Comparison: An unslabbed, fairly rough copy of an original recently sold on ebay for $107.

  1. Any idea what happened to the Jughead facsimile edition that was solicited back in August 2024 and was later cancelled?

      • I just thought you might have some insight on the Jughead facsimile but apparently not. I was hoping it was going to be the first of many Silver Age facsimiles but it looks like Archie Comics is keeping their focus on the risqué covers instead of some of their Silver and Bronze Age classics. Oh well.

        • I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion. There’s a lot planned. Just not revealed yet.

Pass. I’ll save my $$$ for the next round from the crowdfunded Authentic Editions group. These are for my 3-5 year grandsons. Things have to be a little less in your face blatantly “infamous”. Shame.
