A fair argument can be made for either, but how about all those killer diller do-gooders of the Golden Age, like the Black Terror, the Black Cat, Silver Streak (who wasn’t Silver), Amazing Man and whatnot? Dig Kerry’s riff on the oft-homaged cover for 1944’s The Big All-American Comic Book: What a classy bunch of heroes and heroines. I have long been a fan of the Black Terror. One of the greatest costume designs — ever. “If you don’t recognize the characters, they are all public domain heroes,” Kerry sez of the commission. “Hmm.
