These Comics Characters Are Just a Bunch of POTHEADS

He also came up with their name, “The Potheads!” Since some are pretty obscure, I’ll name them, top to bottom: Fat Man, Red Tornado, Bizarro Dr. Fate, Forbush Man, and Johnny Appleseed. I didn’t know Johnny Appleseed wore a pan on his head (or I had forgotten). Whenever I’m uncertain about something, I do what I always do… see what comic books have to say about the matter. Well, look at Classics Illustrated Junior #515, from 1955! Going back further, Disney released a Johnny Appleseed cartoon in 1948. Here’s a Golden Book of it: There’s quite a difference in Johnny’s age between the comic and the Golden Book.
