SNEAK PEEK: Dig DES TAYLOR’s New ROCKETEER Comic Book and Action Figure Project

DESPOP TUESDAYS! You mighta heard that our pal Des has a fancy new Rocketeer project going — and man does it look swell! Basically, Longbox Heroes Prestige: The Rocketeer Collection is an upcoming, officially licensed line of comics and action figures, developed by BigBadWorkshop in association with Shannon Eric Denton’s Monster Forge Productions. Every release in The Rocketeer Collection will include an exclusive, original mini-comic produced by Monster Forge. (An unrelated character called Sky Captain, developed by Kevin Conran, will get similar treatment.) Denton will write the stories in collaboration with his children and they’ll be illustrated by Des; Anthony Marques, president of The Joe Kubert School; and Dan Thompson, creator of the syndicated adventure strip Rip Haywire. There’s no release date or pricing yet, but fans at San Diego Comic-Con this week can hit the BigBadToyStore booth for an early look at The Rocketeer Collection prototypes, and a preview of upcoming releases, including Sky Captain. Here’s a glimpse at the digital sculpt of Betty as the Rocketeer: With all this in mind, here are a bunch of illustrations from Des’ Rocketeer portfolio from over the years: — Want more DESPOP TUESDAYS? When he’s not working on his own properties or churning out commissions, Des spends his spare time… working some more, hating Arsenal and raising his two baby daughters, Scarlett and...

SCARLETT COUTURE: The World’s Best Dressed Intelligence Agent Is Coming Back!

DESPOP TUESDAYS! By DES TAYLOR After the events of The Munich File, Scarlett Carver hasn’t just changed her hair colour, she’s changed the Covert Investigations Group. Here is an EXCLUSIVE LOOK at pages from Scarlett Couture Investigations — the follow-up to the hit comic Scarlett Couture: The Munich File, published by Titan Comics. This time, Scarlett hits you with four standalone adventures that take the reader all over the globe and deeper into her world. The fourth issue is planned and designed like the Cosmopolitan magazine stories of the ’50s, where dramatic pictures were backed up with prose. It’s an idea I have to move Scarlett and her team out of the comics and onto the book shelf in novels. Check back here in October for a special Kickstarter release of three stories! — Want more DESPOP TUESDAYS? Come back next week! Want a commission? Buy prints? Buy Des’ comics?
