HOPE YOU LIKE IT: The ART of DAKOTA ALEXANDER… By DAKOTA ALEXANDER Superheroes, especially Marvel and DC legacy characters, will always maintain the trend of the costume change. As the decades pass by, it is often thought that these long-standing heroes will be in need of an update to keep up with the ever-changing times. And while some of these updates are often modest alterations made to an iconic look, such as Batman, you also have heroes whose costume changes are much bolder, like Spider-Man’s black symbiote suit. And then you have Wonder Man, a character who, from his first appearance in The Avengers #9 in 1964 to the mid-’90s, had one of the most widely varied array of costumes I can think of (except for the Wasp, of course). Everyone has their favorite, but in this case we’re going to go with the classic green! Like with so many of the imaginary covers I draw, it’s fun to really dig into the character’s history to pinpoint iconic elements to further explore. Here, I decided to revisit the infamous Grim Reaper, Wonder Man’s brother! For fun, I decided to include some floating Avengers heads, and I even made a mock ad for the series.
