DC in March will be releasing another Facsimile Edition from the Justice League of America’s Brave and the Bold days — 1960’s The Brave and the Bold #30, featuring the first appearances of Amazo and his creator, Professor Ivo.

Dig the solicitation info, which will be formally released by DC later Friday:

A mysterious (though temporary) vanishing of their various superpowers has the Justice League rattled! When a series of bizarre thefts begins, carried out using the pilfered powers of the League, can our heroes protect the next targets? The ingenious Professor Ivo makes his diabolical debut alongside his criminal creation, Amazo!

Several thoughts:

— This was the JLA’s third and final B&B appearance. The ish came out in April 1960 and four months later Justice League of America #1 was released.

B&B #28 and JLA #1 have already gotten Facsimile Editions. Issue #29 is getting one in January. I would love to see more of these Silver Age JLA FEs.

— This is one of six Facsimile Editions DC is releasing in March, two of which are getting Super Powers variant covers. Check out the links below.

Obligatory Price Comparison: An unslabbed original listed in Fine condition recently sold on eBay for $575.

  1. Oooh! In addition to the individual Treasury Edition, it would be cool if DC combined this with JLA #s 111 and 112 (from early 1974) in a collected set since # 111 features Libra siphoning half the powers of 6 JLAers, and # 112 has the JLA reactivating Amazo to try to get them back. Any other relevant Amazo stuff between these B&B and JLA issues (if existent) would be welcome, too.

While I never read B&B # 30 (as I didn’t exist yet in 1960), I still have those two JLA issues which I recollect with great fondness (from my kiddies days–a 4th grader) for those two great stories, the great Dick Dillin / Dick Giordano artwork and the 100-page format. So, I’m tempted here to get the B&B Treasury Edition issue to add to the collection.

Thanks for the news update, Dan.
