The Archie Authentic Editions campaign is in its final days…
One of the grooviest Kickstarters we’ve seen in some time is in the final stretch — the Archie Authentic Editions campaign that aims to reproduce some of the most beloved comics of the Golden and Silver Ages with the utmost attention to accuracy, from the ads, to the colors, to a book’s dimensions.
You can get the lowdown here — and you can check out the Kickstarter here — but to help gear you up, we’ve published a three-day special for you: 13 CLASSIC BETTY COVERS (which ran Thursday), 13 CLASSIC VERONICA COVERS (which ran Friday) and, now, 13 CLASSIC BETTY VS. VERONICA COVERS.
That’s because Riverdale’s two most interesting characters are the subject of a poll of sorts in the Kickstarter (you can pledge for special Blonde or Brunette packages of the Authentic Editions, which take the Facsimile Edition concept and kick it up about five notches).
So, here are Adam Fortier and Eben Matthews of Macroverse, the company that’s partnered with Archie to produce these lovely editions. (My hope is that this is so successful, Marvel and DC get on board, too. Because this is as much about comics history in general, as it is about Archie specifically.)

Few rivalries in comics history are as iconic and enduring as the one between Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge. Their tug-of-war over Archie’s affections has not only defined the dynamic of Riverdale but has also created countless memorable moments that fans continue to cherish. From friendly competitions to dramatic standoffs, their rivalry captures the humor, charm, and drama that make Archie Comics so timeless. Here, we’ve curated 13 of the best covers showcasing the classic Betty vs. Veronica rivalry from the Golden Age and early Silver Age of comics.
Betty and Veronica’s rivalry is rooted in their stark differences. Betty, the warm and resourceful girl-next-door, contrasts sharply with Veronica, the glamorous and confident heiress. These differences have fueled decades of stories, creating a playful yet poignant narrative that resonates across the ages. Each of these covers highlights that dynamic—sometimes comedic, sometimes heartfelt, but always unforgettable.
These issues are part of our commitment to preserving comics history through our ongoing partnership with Archie Comics and the first of many Authentic Editions collections. Authentic Editions stand apart from traditional Facsimile Edition reprints, delivering period-accurate paper stock, faithful reproductions of original art and colors, and meticulous attention to detail. This craftsmanship brings the magic of these classic comics back to life. While not all of these rivalry covers are part of the current Kickstarter campaign, we’re committed to making them available to collectors throughout the year and beyond.
The rivalry continues today in an exciting and interactive way through our Kickstarter campaign. Fans can pledge their allegiance to Team Betty or Team Veronica, with each pledge counting as a vote to crown the Victorious Vixen. The winner will receive a special collector’s poster, which will be added to every backer’s rewards. Whether you’re rooting for Betty’s unshakable determination or Veronica’s dazzling charisma, this is your chance to make your voice heard and secure a piece of comics history.
Back the campaign here to start your ultimate Archie collection! Gain access to exclusive offers, promotions, and insider updates as we celebrate the legacy of Betty and Veronica’s rivalry. Let’s honor these timeless characters and their most iconic moments together!

“Team Betty” here. My only regret about the new Kickstarter is I couldn’t afford multiple copies of the various issues. I also could only get (2) of the multiple series they were offering. So, I’m hoping they will have other campaigns and re-offer some of the same again.

Too bad these reprints are so flippin expensive. Yes, I wish I had $600 simolians lying around! Maybe these yahoos will try pricing them so the little people can enjoy them too. Sigh. Ya, I know, it will never happen.

If you look at the base package like the “Tip Top 10” it works out to $10 per issue. That’s not too far off from a DC facsimile at today’s prices. And they have (I would imagine) much larger print runs.
I’ve also supported a number of Kickstarter projects where the single issue price worked out to $12-$15/ea. (e.g. Simon/Kirby)
I’d love to have all of these. I’d love to get multiple copies of a handful of the key issues. And then I’d also be willing to settle for trade paperback collections if that is the only way to get full runs.
At the end of the day, I guess I will be happy with whatever they make available and that I can afford.

I’m Team Betty all the way! When I supported this Kickstarter campaign on the first day and contacted 13th Dimension about the campaign, I went through ups and downs in my budget due to the holidays and unexpected expenses like a burst in one of my water pipes. I cancelled my pledge sometime near the holidays. Thankfully, my budget recovered on time and I was able to pledge again with the Tip-Top 10 tier.
