MORRISON MONDAYS!
By BILL MORRISON
Baltimore Comic-Con is coming this weekend, and it was just a year ago that this Batman #251 variant premiered at that very show! It’s an official DC Comics retailer variant, commissioned by Comic Pop Collectibles, which worked in conjunction with fan-favorite AEW wrestler Danhausen to make it happen:
Neal Adams’ original cover to Batman #251 is one of my all-time favorite Bat-images, so when Lauren Becker of Comic Pop Collectibles called me to ask if I was up for drawing an homage to this legendary cover, I was thunderstruck!
As a major Batman fan, it was the thrill of a lifetime to have the opportunity to draw the Caped Crusader for an actual DC cover, but for a reprint of Batman #251? Multiply that sensation by at least a thousand. And as much as I love the Joker, I had a blast replacing “The Clown Prince of Crime” with the “very nice, very evil” Danhausen!
The book was issued in two versions, regular and foil variant. Fans of Batman, Danhausen, or both, can still score this rare issue at the Comic Pop Collectibles eBay store!
NOTE From Dan: Batman #251 is very much in the zeitgeist this week. There’s the new McFarlane Toys statue and the World’s Finest #31 variant cover. Right on!

At Bongo, and later as Executive Editor of Mad Magazine, he parodied the comics images he loved as a kid every chance he got. Not much has changed.
