HOPE YOU LIKE IT: The Art of Dakota Alexander…

By DAKOTA ALEXANDER
I can’t speak for any other creators, but once I committed to making my own superhero comic, The Hunter, I found myself constantly conceptualizing ideas for stories — specifically what supernatural baddies for him to battle. So much so that I found myself drawing covers for books I hadn’t even written!
The latest example of this is a holiday-themed piece with The Hunter battling against Santa’s very own shadow — Krampus!

Pitch: “Steven Conrad (The Hunter’s alter-ego) finds himself snowed in at a small quaint town in the Midwest that is well known for their Krampuslauf festival. But there is something… unnatural about this snowstorm. Suddenly everyone in the town is frozen in place — like time itself has stopped! As Steven Conrad and Herne race to get to the bottom of this horrific holiday mystery, a dark figure emerges from the blizzard…”
It’s always a lot of fun to design a character like Krampus in a kind of super-villain fashion. There’s so much visual representation, both traditional and modern, and I enjoy being able to give my own spin on the idea.
Who can say if I will ever be able to make a comic to go along with this cover — but it’s always fun to create!
Next Thursday is Christmas Day and we’ll be wishing you all a very Merry Christmas with some Marvel and DC characters! Hope you’ll like it!
