HOPE YOU LIKE IT: The Art of DAKOTA ALEXANDER…

By DAKOTA ALEXANDER
To many who know my art, it’s no secret that I enjoy trying my hand at the “mock” comic cover. As opposed to pin-up art, the comic cover often gets to have a bit more of a narrative, plus all that wonderful cover dressing. And don’t forget the text blocks and occasional word balloons!
Yes, long before I decided to do my own comic, The Hunter, I had no desire to do interior art or even make my own character, but I LOVED creating fake covers for all my favorite Marvel and DC heroes — seeing if I could really replicate the feeling of the respective eras.

According to the occasional comment on Facebook, some of these fake covers apparently looked real enough that people tried to find them online to purchase — which sometimes had commenters complaining about the frustration of searching for a nonexistent comic!
Sorry folks! Not trying to play a prank on anyone! Just celebrating some great eras in comics!
With that in mind, we’ll be showing off a lot of these covers here in the weeks and months ahead.
Here’s a faux Captain America #115…

… and the actual cover to that 1969 issue, by Marie Severin, Frank Giacoia and Frank Brunner:

Hope you like it.
