JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR #100
After 33 years and 100 issues, we proudly present “Kirby Eternal,” a special 100-page anniversary issue for Jack’s most devoted fans! Whether you’ve been reading the Jack Kirby Collector since its 1994 debut, or just discovered it more recently, issue #100 is crammed full of the most comprehensive Kirby info ever compiled! There’s a detailed listing of every piece of Kirby art we’ve ever published (including all the pencil photocopies from his 1960s-1980s Marvel, DC, and independent work—and all the ones we still haven’t published yet!). Repros of every Kirby sketch we’ve discovered since 1994 (so you can compare the multitude of Captain Americas, Hulks, and Things he drew, just to name a few).
There’s new data to augment the Jack Kirby Checklist: Centennial Edition (including an updated list of all known Jack Kirby interviews). An index of every Kirby Collector article since issue #1, to help with your own research. How ChatGPT’s interpretation of who created the Marvel Universe has changed in the last several years. And a plethora of rare and unseen Kirby art (which, come to think of it, we’ll have to add to the listing in this issue!). With a golden Kirby cover inked by Mark Buckingham, “Kirby Eternal” is one issue that’ll stand the test of time for Kirby exploration! Edited by John Morrow.

COMIC BOOK CREATOR #48
CBC #48 headlines the superb artistry of Brent Anderson in a comprehensive interview, where his fanzine and early alt-comics are discussed, as well as his start as a pro in the ill-fated Xanadu movie adaptation; early success with Ka-Zar; X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills graphic novel work; Somerset Holmes and Strikeforce: Morituri; and even greater notice as collaborator (with Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross) on the Astro City series, as well as his current projects. We also talk with Warren magazine horror comics writer Bruce Bezaire, scripter of the terrifying “Night of the Jackass” series. CBC also continues its conversation with Rick Altergott about life as an alternative cartoonist and his latest Doofus adventures. Shaun Clancy digs into the history of the American Comics Group and its cloaked connection to DC Comics. And we also grok the outstanding retro approach of Blue Moon Comics with publisher Lloyd Smith (a.k.a. The Groovy Agent), as well as take a loving look at the incredible Filipino “Tagalog Komiks” of Nestor Redondo and Alfredo Alcala. And, par for the course, Hembeck tees off with another whole-in-one Dateline episode! Edited by Jon B. Cooke.

COMIC BOOK CREATOR #49
Celebrating Al Williamson is the spotlight of CBC #49, where Greg Biga talks with the wonderful fantasy/adventure artist’s peers and prodigies about his South American upbringing, emergence as a Fleagle Boy with Frazetta, Torres, and company, collaborations with Roy Krenkel and Archie Goodwin, comic strip art on Secret Agent Corrigan and Star Wars, and Flash Gordon obsession! We also talk with Bruce Chrislip about the Mini Comics Revolution and its impact on the comics world, and there’s Part One of a behind-the-scenes look at the ’60s/’70s Marvel Bullpen courtesy of Stu Schwartzberg, the writer/cartoonist and “Stat-Man Extraordinaire”! And, speaking of bullpens, Ken Gale showcases the inside baseball story of the Fandom Fireballs, the greatest softball team in the history of comic books! In addition, Edmund Trueman explores the Congolese Comics scene and the brilliant work appearing in that African country, and we examine the lives of the husband-&-wife Golden Age comics creator team of Burton & Ruth Geller, who had their own E.C. Comics title and worked, often as Ruth Burton, on children’s comics for decades. Plus Hembeck is here, you bet! Edited by Jon B. Cooke.
