EXCLUSIVE: A Silver Age masterpiece…

Marvel’s Facsimile Edition run of the first seven 1968 Silver Surfer issues continues in June, and this one packs a wallop: Issue #4, featuring Norrin Radd’s smashing showdown with Thor.
Dig the solicitation, which will be released officially by Marvel later this month:

One of the most compelling Marvel Masterpieces of all time – and that’s just John Buscema’s cover! Incredibly, the story inside is every bit as dynamic as the scheming Loki seeks a suitable powerhouse capable of ridding him of his troublesome brother, the Mighty Thor! As the Trickster’s mystic gaze alights on none other than the Silver Surfer, the stage is set for one of the most cataclysmic conflicts of the Marvel Age of Comics, beautifully rendered by Buscema! Also featuring Mephisto and the Warriors Three – and another tale of the Watcher that unleashes the terror of Tim Boo Ba! Reprinting SILVER SURFER (1968) #4.

A few thoughts:

— Marvel has two Facsimiles in June, not including Avengers/JLA #2, which is being published by DC. Links below!
— I’m glad the solicitation calls out John Buscema’s cover (inked by brother Sal and colored by Marie Severin). It’s one of the most memorable of the Marvel Age.
— Obligatory Price Comparison: An unslabbed original copy in decent shape recently sold on eBay for about $330.
