13 NEAL ADAMS Illustrations Just Because We Miss Him

Thinking about comics’ greatest artist…

I miss Neal Adams. Larger than life and bombastic, he filled any room he was in. More than all that, he loved comics. Loved them.

I’ve written a ton about Neal over the years and had the pleasure of interviewing him many times. He also was gracious enough to contribute a number of guest columns to 13th Dimension.

It’s not like I saw him every day or anything even remotely close to that. Maybe a few times a year. I just miss the idea of him being around, holding court while drawing. He was always drawing.

I’ll be writing a ton more about Neal as the years go on but I just felt like posting some of the art from his website, which is operated by his dedicated family. Click here to check it out because you might just find something by comics’ greatest artist that you’ll want to buy.

Dig these:

Doesn’t Dracula look like Ra’s al Ghul’s brother?

  1. Oh, man that joker cover. Even in his later years Adams could still bring the a game couldn’t he?

  2. I was a member of the gym that Mr. Adams used to go to years ago. We struck up a bit of a friendship after time and I used to want to pinch myself when he’d invite me to sit with him in the gym’s cafe after a workout. He’d share with me what he was working on and was kind enough to autograph some books for me. When I presented him with the books, he asked me if I wanted my name addressed with his signature! I told him who wouldn’t want that?!?! He then told me that some “collectors” only get his autograph to sell his books for a higher price. 🙁

  4. Those Conan ones remind me of the storyboard layouts Neal did back in the day. I’m guessing they were for the movies or an earlier pitch.
