In case you’ve missed it…
I don’t know if you’ve picked it up yet, but Marvel Value Stamps: A Visual History, by Roy Thomas, is one of the grooviest comics pubs to come out in awhile. Columnist Jim Beard gave it high marks in his review, but now that the dust has settled some, I wanted to show off 13 of my fave pages from the book.
These give you a really strong taste of what’s inside, so dig these. (But hold on — we have news for you too! Marvel and Abrams ComicArts this fall are reprinting the classic 1970s black light notecard set. Click here for the funky details.)

Marvel Value Stamps: A Visual History is available now. It lists for $29.99 and is available at comics shops and booksellers. The 400-page hardcover measures at 6.5 x 9 inches.

Read this terrific nostalgic book last night! Fast read and took me back to a time that this wonderful world of comics helped my childhood. Sure regretted later in life cutting those stamps out of my comics though. Hee hee.

I have to admit that when I first heard about this book, I thought it was the dumbest idea ever…really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Fortunately, I got to see a copy at my local bookstore, found out what a delightful publication it is, and ended up purchasing a copy.
