13 FRENCH MARVEL COVERS to Celebrate BASTILLE DAY

Vive la France — et Jean Frisano!

It’s July 14 — Bastille Day in France! How best to celebrate here at 13th Dimension? With 13 COVERS!

And not just any 13 COVERS, but 13 COVERS from Strange, the Bronze Age French publication by Editions LUG that reprinted (and translated, natch) American Marvel stories. The issues generally featured covers that reworked the US versions, but there was a whole run by painter Jean Frisano that were originals or “homages.”

Remarquable!

  1. Wow, those are fantastic! I’m digging the black gloves, boots and trunks on Daredevil in that first cover. Speaking of trunks, looks like Spidey has a pair on that last cover, but I love the Ditko vibe it has! The All-New X-Men cover is interesting, because it puts Wolverine with the “old” X-Men. I love little anachronistic things like this on foreign covers. But these are simply beautiful either way.
