13 COVERS: The HOUSES of DICK DILLIN

Mystery and Secrets! A BIRTHDAY SALUTE to one of comics’ workhorses…

The late Dick Dillin — born 96 years ago, on Dec. 17, 1928 — got it done. Whether it was Justice League of America, Blackhawk, or any other number of features, he was as reliable as a Clydesdale (though much faster).

In the past, we’ve celebrated his JLA and Blackhawk work, so this year we’re going to play house — with 13 COVERS from the Silver Age House of Mystery and House of Secrets. (All inked by Sheldon Moldoff.)

Swell!

  1. Very interesting–as I wasn’t aware. I think of Dick Dillian esp. as THE Justice League of America artist (as I grew up with him as the JLA illustrator over Mike Sekowsky) and too the World’s Finest–and looking esp. stellar when Dick Giordano was his inker. And he left us far too soon–only 51 years old. Thanks, Dan!

    • I LOVE Eclipso and would love to see his stories reprinted in a DC Finest edition. I’ve never read any Mark Merlin, though.

  5. Dick Dillin was my favorite JLA artist. It’s great to see his “House Of Mystery” work displayed.
